1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to website operators.
2. How We Use Cookies
GoLocal! uses a minimal set of cookies and browser storage mechanisms, strictly limited to what is necessary for the service to function:
Essential Cookies (Strictly Necessary)
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| next-auth.session-token | Maintains your authenticated session after signing in with Google OAuth. | Session / 30 days |
| next-auth.csrf-token | Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks. | Session |
| next-auth.callback-url | Stores the redirect URL after authentication. | Session |
Browser Storage (Translation Widget)
| Storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sessionStorage: tr_target_lang | Remembers the language selected in the translation widget during the current session. | Browser session |
| localStorage: golocal_mau | Stores a daily unique visitor identifier for Monthly Active User counting. No personal data. | 24 hours |
| IndexedDB: golocal-cache | Caches translated texts locally to reduce network requests and improve loading speed. | Persistent |
3. Third-Party Cookies
GoLocal! does not use any:
- Third-party tracking or advertising cookies
- Google Analytics or similar analytics services
- Social media tracking pixels
- Retargeting or behavioral advertising technologies
When you sign in with Google OAuth, Google may set its own cookies during the authentication flow. These are governed by Google's Cookie Policy.
When you make a payment, Stripe may set cookies for fraud prevention. These are governed by Stripe's Cookie Policy.
4. Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. However, disabling essential cookies will prevent the GoLocal! dashboard from functioning correctly.
The translation widget's browser storage (sessionStorage, localStorage, IndexedDB) can be cleared through your browser's developer tools or site data settings.
5. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
